Abstract:
Cultured neonatal sympathetic neurons can synthesize and corelease norepinephrine (NE) and acetylcholine (ACh). Evoked release of NE has an excitatory effect on the beat rate of cocultured cardiac myocytes while ACh release results in myocyte inhibition.

Materials & Methods:
Cultures were grown on glass-bottomed dishes (MatTek Ashland MA) maintained in culture for 3 or 4 days or 3 weeks and then fixed for 10 min in 4% paraformaldehyde.
