3D invasion assay - Primary macrophages were derived as above. Invasion of cancercells through a 3D collagen I matrix was performed as described
previously (Goswami et al. 2005). Briefly, 80,000 MTLn3 cells were plated alone or in the presence of 200,000 BMDMs in 35-mm MatTek dishes. A collagen I matrix (BD Pharmingen) was added over cells 24 h after plating. Cells were allowed to migrate through the collagen I matrix for 24 h, and the number of cancer cells migrating $15 mm was quantified using confocal microscopy. Data were collected from at least three independent
