Coverslip Kits
Ready to use
Pre-sterilized (Gamma Irradiation)
Perfect for Cytogenetic Procedures
FREE Samples Available
Researchers and clinicians with a limited number of cells have always preferred to use coverslips
to initiate cell proliferation. The typical procedure involved first sterilizing all items and
then placing the coverslips in a 35 mm petri dish, all time consuming steps. Now MatTek Cell
Culture Coverslip Kits come ready to use - coverslips placed in 35 mm petri dishes and pre-sterilized.
Ready To Use
MatTek Coverslip Kits are pre-sterilized using gamma-irradiation. No more "flaming"
the coverslips plus the certainty of gamma-irradiation all but eliminates the need to "redo"
patient tests. You simply open the sterile sleeve package of 20 dishes and perform the test.
Two Coverslip Surfaces
Two coverslip surface chemistries (standard glass and CS1) are available. This gives the end-user
the option of selecting the most appropriate growth surface for their application-- the standard
glass coverslip or MatTek's special modified CS1 surface.
Standard glass coverslip kits are available in the CSGK/F, CSGK/C and CSGK/N
Coverslip Kit configurations. These kits, the CSGK/F in particular, are widely used in amniocentesis
testing.
CS1 coverslips have an oxygen rich, negatively charged surface. These coverslips
are available in only one kit configuration, CS1K/F.
Convenient Size
MatTek coverslips are 22 mm square and are 0.16-0.19 mm thick (standard No. 1.5 coverslip thickness).
Their thickness makes them ideal for optical microscopy (Note: The CS1 coverslips cannot be
used with oil immersion objectives). The CS1 coverslips are manufactured from a non-curling
plastic material to improve their durability.
Convenient Packaging
MatTek Coverslip Kits come cases of 500 dishes packaged in pre-sterilized sealed sleeves of
20 dishes each.

Glass Coverslip Specifications
MatTek uses the highest quality, borosilicate German glass coverslips in its glass bottom dish
products. The coverslip properties are as follows:
-
Highest hydrolytic resistance (hydrolytic class 1)
-
Excellent resistance to chemicals
-
Emission of alkali approximately 15 to 24 µg Na2O/g glass
-
Excellent properties for fluorescent microscopy:
----Incident ultraviolet rays with wavelengths longer than 320 nm do not cause fluorescence.
-
Mercury lines at 334 and 365 nm do not create auto-fluorescence.
(Note: For mercury illumination, filter out the mercury lines
with wavelengths shorter than 313 nm to obtain best possible results.)
-
Refractive index (@ 20°C): ?D = 1.5230 tolerance ± 0.0015
-
Abbe number V = 55
